Unique wood deserves unique vision

My father was my first influence. I watched him build the furniture and toys I grew up using. With access to a woodshop and barn full of “stuff,” I was encouraged to make the things I wanted. Since then, I have been creating my own environment and making other people’s visions into their reality.

My style is practical elegance. My approach is to respect how materials, people, and conditions come together. Recent projects include private residences in Chicago and Florida, the Chicago Tile Institute showroom at the Merchandise Mart, and Adelle's-American Bistro in Wheaton, IL. I also designed a millwork case goods collection using Forest Reflections and a custom aluminum pergola structure for a residential client.

Asked about Forest Reflections, Schneider says, “These veneers allow me to fully realize a fundamental design concept. I can use materials in a way that expresses their inherent beauty. The furniture and objects I created with these Forest Reflections silently communicate their uniqueness and journey from small oak sapling to one of a kind millwork piece. Respect for the material is paramount. Each Forest Reflection veneer contains the history and journey of a single acorn, some seeded more than 800 years ago. Each tree, each log, expresses a unique esthetic fingerprint, once a part of an organic pelt, now adorning someone’s living or working space.”
